Welcome to CSC4700! This assignment is designed to help you get your development environment set up and running so that you can compile, run, and debug programs. There isn’t any actual programming involved, and we hope that this doesn’t take you too much time to complete. Remember, you don’t need to understand what the code you’re being asked to run is actually doing just yet. Over the course of the semester, each of the different parts of this program will be illuminated! This assignment must be completed individually.
Your first tasks are to configure your computer so you can compile and run code. You will also need to create an account on github.com, where we will manage all homework assignments, lecture related code examples, and projects. This preparation requires a lot of reading and following instructions on your part. For this reason, the actual assignment is simple and does not require any significant programming and/or debugging.
Here is a list of documents that we suggest you read and work on in sequence. This will help to minimize the time you spend on every step between setting up your environment and submitting your work.
